How Unitarianism and Life is like Star Trek

The Prime Directive dictates that there be no interference with the natural development of any primitive society, chiefly meaning that no primitive culture can be given or exposed to any information regarding advanced technology or the existence of extraplanetary civilizations. It also forbids any effort to improve or change in any way the natural course of such a society, even if that change is well-intentioned and kept completely secret.

(thanks Wikipedia)

To wit, Unitarian Universalism is a religion based on LOVE not FEAR. People who are attracted to fear based religions like Fundamentalist Christianity will never be attracted to, nor thrive
in Unitarian Universalism. It takes a certain kind of person, a certain sort of intelligence if you will, to see religion not based in FEAR but in LOVE.

We'd be wasting our time trying to spread the Good News to a lot of people; the problem is that we are so concerned with keeping our faith private that we cease to reveal it at all.

This is what has got to change. We cannot keep being the world's best kept secret. There are certain people who are Unitarian Universalists and just don't know it yet. And being honest with our Unitarian Universalist faith is the only way we can extend a hand out to those people.

And I think we, each of us, knows where to start.
