Quote of the Week
"Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people"- Eleanor Roosevelt
May also explain why I'm not "great." People fascinate me. And in examining our own and other's lives (remember these are people) are we not contemplating "ideas?"
There is always at least one contrarian asshole in the bleachers. Sorry.
The insipid cult of personality is a little tiresome sometime in the media - even during the historical election last November we heard more dialogue in the MSM around Michelle Obama's choice of clothing and the ongoing Palin family drama than we did around the ideas that were being put forward by the candidates to meet unique 21st century challenges.
Equally irksome is the tired and outmoded ( i.e. liberal vs conservative) framework that is used to frame most political discourse.
"I am not a Labor Leader; I do not want you to follow me or anyone else; if you are looking for a Moses to lead you out of this capitalist wilderness, you will stay right where you are.
I would not lead you into the promised land if I could, because if I lead you in, some one else would lead you out.
You must use your heads as well as your hands, and get yourself out of your present condition."

Utah,
You're over-thinking it. :)
I think the point is that some people don't think about ideas or events at all.
Grrreat quote!
