The d...The questions you raise are very important.

The difference between UUism and Liberal/FGC Friends is in how both respond to Christian expression. UUs are often hostile to Christianity, while Friends grant it a measure of reverence and respect, even if they don’t call themselves Christians.

I’ve always believed that the other, very Christian branches of the Religious Society of Friends have a moderating influence. UUism is the same everywhere, and this is not the case with Quakerism.

Once upon a time, Unitarianism was a Christian denomination. Over the past 40 years, they stripped away most Christian references and redefined the faith as a kind of humanism. The terminology, the faith, and the particulars of Quakerism have biblical origins. These have never changed much over time.

What am I searching for? Plainly put, I want Quakers to act like Quakers. I want us to live our Testimonies and see the need for God.

I see potential in Friends, yes. I'm not the only person out there trying to revive the faith. It's difficult to know how successful my efforts have been, but at least people are reading what I write.Comrade Kevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11393718048145784837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12310464.post-16709491685719550062013-12-30T19:45:51.833-06:002013-12-30T19:45:51.833-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.Comrade Kevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11393718048145784837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12310464.post-45771850225662110222013-12-30T00:00:13.762-06:002013-12-30T00:00:13.762-06:00I'd like to ask you a question if you don'...I'd like to ask you a question if you don't mind: What is it that you are searching for in your faith?
I though about joining Quakerism recently, but see in the local variety that is nearby the same lack of commitment to....religion I guess, that I saw in another faith I was interested in: Unitarian Universalism.
So I wanted to know what you think: does FGC Quakerism have what UUism does not? Or is it simply on the same road to complete irrelevance? Is their hope of revival in Quakerism, of stopping the fall from liberal Christianity into thinly veiled humanism? Or is it already to far gone?Daniel Francishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14455189119557500221noreply@blogger.com
